Shannon Pelletier
Ballet Technique,
Pointe, Variations

Shannon Pelletier is a classically trained dancer and seasoned arts professional whose career spans performance, choreography, arts administration, and design. A native of Maine, she began her formal ballet training at the Center for Dance Education at Ballet New England under Misha Djuric and later William Pizzuto. She continued her studies at the Kirov Academy and American Ballet Theatre, and performed in collaborative works with companies such as Liz Lerman Dance Exchange, Ballet Monte Carlo, and Portland Ballet.

At seventeen, Shannon was invited on full merit scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet/New School University BFA program in New York City. There she trained under distinguished artists including David Howard (Royal Ballet), Karla Wolfangle and João Carvalho (Paul Taylor Company), and François Perron (Paris Opera Ballet), graduating with honors in 2003. Her professional career includes seasons with both Chicago Ballet and Ballet New England, where she also served as Choreographer-in-Residence, creating original repertory for the company and its school.

In 2006, Shannon pursued a Master’s degree in Arts Policy and Practice at the National University of Ireland Galway, merging her deep foundation in dance with a commitment to arts leadership and cultural advocacy. Over the past two decades, she has worked across the U.S., Europe, and Australia in both nonprofit and commercial sectors, holding senior roles with organizations such as the Prescott Park Arts Festival and Camden International Film Festival/Points North Institute.

Now based in Camden, Maine, Shannon continues to contribute to the arts through teaching, choreography, and design. Her work as a publication designer includes a portfolio of international, national and Maine-based clients. With an approach grounded in rigor, creativity, and care, Shannon is dedicated to fostering the next generation of dancers in an environment that values both technical excellence and artistic integrity.
